EUGENE HURTER Eugene Hurter was born in Durban in 1942 where his talent as an artist was recognised at an early age. He was however encouraged to follow a more stable career and completed his former years as an electronic technician but the longing for the life of an artist stayed with him and he eventually enrolled for a course at Unisa. Painting in his spare time and exhibiting in various galleries around the country, his work became in such demand that he was able to realize his lifelong dream of becoming a full time artist, which he has been doing since 1981. His work is much sought after by local and overseas collectors. In 1985 he was invited to exhibit at the “International Art Expo” in Los Angeles. Initially he used to work in watercolours but lately turned into Oils as well.
